The second transmission from planet BTWS is great, while perhaps not quite achieving the same levels of trance-en-mentalness as the first album.

Highlights include the psyche-out money shot of "Words" and the horrible hippy tweefest of the John Peel sampling "The Perfumed Garden".

I've had a request to repost a couple of things by BTWS from a friend of the blog, Marc.

As this stuff is utterly wonderful and has always proved quite popular with "the heads", I thought it might be time for a refresh of their entire oeuvre. So, you know, why the fuck not?

Kicking off with their awesome début, pressed on baby pink vinyl, we have the mighty "Birth".

Setting out their stall for the psychedelic/dance crossover like nobody else before or since, Erol and Richard deliver a MASSIVE hotch-potch of lost psyche gems infused with a thoroughly moderne dancefloor sensibility.

This one is quite difficult to find now, so spark up a jazz cigarette and get on down, pop pickers.

I've just done a fresh rip of this fantastic third album from the wonderful Beyond The Wizards Sleeve.

I'm hanging out for some fresh material from the band and find myself returning to these early records time and again. They always go down well here on the blog so I thought I'd stick it up here as I think it was Spinster's Rock days when I last posted this.

There's a couple of tracks on here which didn't appear on the Ark 1 CD I posted a while ago.

Erol Alkan & Boy's Noize - Waves/Death Suite 12"

"Absolutely massive 12" here as Erol Alkan finally makes his recording debut alongside Boys Noize, and could you really get a bigger pair-up? Sure we've had a fair few remixes in the past from Erol, but nothing with his name at the front until now, and considering how fantastic those remixes and re-edits have been, it's definitely something that's long, long overdue. First of all "Waves" is a H.U.G.E. Acid-banger with some trancey overtones at the beginning (in the best possible way) and a Rush-tastic peak before it comes on even stronger, with some Smith n Hack style Acid editing. This is motorways ahead of your standard Electro-House fare and has classic written all over it. On the flip "Death Suite" is THE sweaty Rave beast right now, vibing like Mr. Oizo remixing Phuture, the Acid is matched this time with constantly switching drums and constantly Huger basslines, snippets of Vocals and the best ADD editing since the days of Osymyso (5 points if you remember him). In the current dearth of forward thinking AND seriously banging club music these tracks stand out head shoulders, torso and legs above everything else right now, totally essential stuff."
